We are delighted to welcome you to the European Labour Authority for the tenth edition of the Hugo Sinzheimer Moot Court Competition. As aspiring legal professionals, your presence here is a reflection of your commitment to the principles of justice, fairness, and European cooperation—values that lie at the heart of our mission at ELA.
The European Labour Authority, established in 2019 and based in Bratislava, Slovakia, is one of the EU’s youngest agencies. Its primary role is to ensure that the rules on labour mobility and social security coordination are applied in a fair and effective manner across all EU Member States. ELA works to support both workers and employers by providing clear, accessible information and by facilitating cooperation among national authorities. We also coordinate concerted and joint inspections, support the resolution of cross-border disputes, and contribute to combating fraud and abuse in the labour market.
Hosting this prestigious moot court competition is especially meaningful for us. The HS MCC not only honours the legacy of Hugo Sinzheimer, a pioneer of European labour law, but also provides a unique platform for students to engage with real-life issues in European labour law—an area that continues to evolve and grow in complexity. Your participation is a testament to the next generation’s vital role in shaping the future of labour rights and mobility in Europe.
We hope your time here at ELA is inspiring, challenging, and rewarding. Good luck in the competition—and enjoy this opportunity to contribute to the rich and dynamic tradition of European labour law.
